I’m Writing a Panel For A New Comic Series Called Rising Rebels.

I am excited to announce a new project I have been working on. I have been writing this two-page panel for each issue of a new comic book series called Rising Rebels. The comic book is from Jay Fotos, Mark Kidwell and Jeff Zornow, the guys behind Image Comics brutal series ’68, which is a zombie series based in 1968 right in the middle of the Vietnam War. The best way to describe ’68 in short is the zombie apocalypse meets the film Full Metal Jacket.

As for their new series Rising Rebels, this can be described as a four-issue time machine ride, transporting you back to the glory days of 1980s style, over-the-top, “straight to video” camp horror.

In a dusty attic corner, in an old cardboard box, young Evan stumbles upon his Dad’s vintage stash. VHS…three magic letters right there on the worn sleeves that boast some of the coolest artwork he has ever seen. Machine-gun toting, bronzed bikini babes, mutated sea creatures, aliens from space…and that one tape…way at the bottom of the box. The one with the BLOOD RED lettering. “Please, Dad! Let’s watch this one!” His finger presses PLAY…and it’s already too late!

In each issue I am presenting a look back to the eighties, which was the greatest time for kids growing up with a tremendous amount of horror and sci-fi films, toys, video games and other insanely cool stuff that inspired a whole new generation of monster fans.

The series is only available though conventions and directly through the creators at JayFotos.Com Issue one was just released and issue two should be available in May. If you are into ‘80s horror and nostalgia, I highly recommend you check out the series, you will not be disappointed!

Here is a sample of some of the mayhem in the first issue!
