Corona got us watching day time and late night talk shows!

For those at home, you know day time TV sucks. Silly soap operas, shows that feature a few hosts arguing over who knows what, reruns of shitty reality shows, celebrity gossip programs and the goofiest of all: Day Time Talk Shows.

Don’t get me wrong, Kelly Clarkson seems like a nice person and a good host, but the content is not driven towards my demographic. Wendy Williams is sort of mean and the local commercials for every law firm and insurance company has me at the end of day time television. I find myself watching old Addam’s Family and Andy Griffith Show reruns on Amazon and Vudu, or catching up on The Family Guy and other shows I enjoy on the DVR.

All this led me to thinking about talk show moments that I did enjoy. Like when Geraldo had an all out brawl with some Nazi scumbags or went looking into the contents of Capone’s safe. I slipped into a rabbit hole of Youtube Day Time Talk Show moments and wanted to share a few I enjoyed!

First up, Wes Craven and Clive Barker are both guests on the Dr. Ruth Show. The best part is, Dr. Ruth clearly watched A  Nightmare on Elm Street and discuses the family dynamic with Craven!

I’m sure you saw the NYHC on Phil Donahue episode, it’s been circulating for years. Surprisingly, I had not seen Warzone with Ray and Todd Youth on The Morning Show with Regis and Kathie Lee until a week ago. Jimmy Gestapo of Murphy’s Law was apparently supposed to be there because Regis mentions him. The blond girl Natalie runs the interview like a boss.

Half way through there is a commercial for Friday: The Sexy Billy Dee Williams as a guest. I got a chuckle.

Was 2 Live Crew the best ever? You fucking better believe it. Donahue did a whole interview with them, but the interview is goofy and very Phil Donahue one sided. The best part of this appearance isn’t the interview but a live performance of their song The Fuck Shop. And, Luke just talks mad shit to the audience throughout calling them liars in the song and hassling them throughout. 2 Live Crew starts out singing censored lyrics but then they just say fuck it… literally. This is amazing. The stale faced old white people in the audience starring at these American music Icons is absolutely hilarious.

When wrestlers in the 80s did their crazy interviews with legends like Mean Gene. it didn’t seem so insane. But, when unique characters like The Ultimate Warrior go on Arsenal Hall and bug the fuck out, it’s even crazier than I remembered. He is breathing heavy, talking wack bullshit about the power of the warriors flowing through his veins and flipping couches over. Arsenal did a great job with this one and is a little better than when he interviewed Jason Voorhees for Friday the 13th Part 8 Jason Takes Manhattan.

One of my favorite Letterman appearances, not counting Crispen Glover’s wacky awkward interview, was Mel Blanc talking to Letterman about his wonderful career doing voices for every cartoon we all grew up with. To see Mel doing the voices in person is  so fun and he does the interview with every bit of the same charisma he brought to life from Bugs Bunny to Barney Rubble. I enjoyed this A LOT.

And last but not least, how could I put together a talk show list without a best of Maury revealing who is and who is not the father. Watching the whole episode is tough, but if you are going to give me a highlight reel, I’ll watch all day long! When the lady in red runs off the stage at 2:30 minutes into this video, make sure you aren’t eating anything cause you may choke from laughter.
